The Lycée de Garçons de Luxembourg is registered with UCAS, the central organisation through which applications are processed for entry to higher education in the UK. LGL students wishing to apply to a British university should therefore do so through their school. To meet UK deadlines (see below), it is strongly recommended that students planning to study at a UK university embark on the selection and application process 15 to 17 months prior to the starting date of their course.

Deadlines for 2026 entry
  • 15th October 2025: Deadline for Oxford, Cambridge, Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science.
  • 14th January 2026 (18:00 UK time): Equal consideration date for applications for most undergraduate courses
  • 26th February 2026: Extra starts for eligible applicants.
  • 30th June 2026 (18:00 UK time): Applications received by this deadline will be sent to universities and colleges. After this time, applications are automatically entered into Clearing.
  • 2nd July 2026: Clearing opens.
Information session

Each year the British Embassy, in association with SLSB and alumni societies, organises an information event in the course of which prospective students are given in-depth information concerning the application process, studying at a British university and living in the UK. As far as possible, they are given the opportunity to meet students from Luxembourg currently enrolled at a British university. Prospective students are strongly advised to attend that event.

How to apply

The application process is lengthy and complex. It involves selecting courses and institutions, obtaining an informative reference, writing a carefully researched and thought-through personal statement, completing an electronic application form, sitting a language test (e.g. IELTS, CAE, CPE, TOEFL), sitting a special admissions test (e.g. for studies in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science, and selected other subjects), attending interviews or preparing portfolios. For advice and assistance, students are requested to contact Simone Biewer at LGL-SePAS (by appointment) as they are likely to need substantial help with the electronic application process.

Tuition fees

Please note that EU, other EEA and Swiss nationals are no longer eligible for ‘home fee’ status as of the academic year 2021/22. This means they have to pay ‘international fees’. Students should refer to their chosen university’s website for details. They also need to apply for a student visa prior to starting their cours
